The Aerie Resort and Spa

Bryan and I spent our honeymoon on Vancouver Island off the western shore of British Columbia, Canada. We spent most of our time at The Aerie Resort and Spa in Malahat which is just north of Victoria. The Aerie has received all kinds of awards as best small resort in North America (per Conde Nast Traveler) as well as AAA four star ratings and Michelin four star ratings. It's also a member of the prestigious Relais & Chateau and is most famous for its dining.

We were thoroughly pampered every day! We enjoyed freshly baked breads for our breakfast in bed each morning as well as the spa treatments, aromatherapy and massages. We had a private consultation with the chef to discuss our seven course meals! And we had views of the mountains and the sea from our private balcony. The whole experience was amazing!

The Aerie had filled our room with treats prior to our arrival: champagne on ice, a dozen long-stemmed red roses, a vase of fresh spring flowers and an amazing block of Belgian chocolate. All the fresh flowers in our room were replaced every two days.

This is a view of the living room in our suite. We had a split-level suite with a bedroom and large bathroom, a middle tier with a hot tub, and a living room with fireplace on the lower level. You can see the vase of roses on the coffee table. The fireplace worked at the click of a button!

The hot tub sits between the bedroom and living room with views of the fireplace. A crystal chandelier hangs above the tub, which is surrounded by windows with a view out to the mountains.

This funny little statue is in the vegetable garden on the property. The chef actually has an organic gardener on staff to grow fresh produce!

This is a view into the forest in a neighboring provincial park where Bryan and I took a nature walk.

Here are the honeymooners! We had to dress nicely for meals at the resort.

The Aerie sits on 85 acres near the town of Malahat. The grounds were teeming with flower gardens, ponds, woodlands and hiking trails.

This is the view out to the mountains from our balcony. We had a private balcony which wrapped around our suite and could be accessed from the living room or the bed room. We were able to soak up some sun in the afternoons.

This is Bryan enjoying the spa life. We spent most of the day in our robes. The Aerie only has 29 suites, so there were not many people around. It felt like we were staying in our own private chateau!
