UPDATE:   17 January 2006

Switzerland...

GUEST REPORTER: Bryan Price - a Tennessee native and graduate of Auburn University who now calls Fort Walton Beach, Florida his home...

We spent some time in Zurich and Raperswil during a driving tour we made of Austria, Germany, Liechtenstein and Switzerland in June 2002.

Grossmünster cathedral as viewed from across a canal feeding lake Zurich (Zurichsee).

Universität – Backing up the street a couple hundred yards, we see a building on the campus of the University of Zurich.

Wadenswil – A roadside town on the banks of Zurichsee.

Raperswil church windows – Uh, I don’t know.  They were pretty.

A view from a hilltop at the edge of the University of Zurich campus. The clock tower in the lower right area of the picture, is the largest clock face in all of Europe.

A typical chocolate shop on the streets of Zurich.  Each confection is decorated like a miniature work of art.  (Don’t worry folks, Kim is being restrained by ½” thick plate glass.  The chocolate was safe, at least for the first day.)  [Editor's note: I object to the implied endangerment of Swiss chocolate!!! Wait, what am I saying?]

Raperswil was a quaint village on the opposite end of Zurichsee from the city of Zurich.  An impressive castle, monastery, and church sat atop a hillside overlooking the lake.  This picture is a view from the heart of town, looking back at the church.

Raperswil roses – No, the picture is not upside down.  Notice the rooftop in the background and the new rosebuds as they turn to face the sun.  The rose bush was so heavily laden with blooms, and weighted down with rain, that the blooms appear to be growing down.
