Victoria,
British Columbia
Bryan
and I spent our honeymoon on Vancouver Island off
the western shore of British Columbia, Canada. After spending the week at a spa in Malahat, we spent our
weekend in the provincial capital city of Victoria. Here we are laying in the grass in
front of the Legislature of British Columbia. |

This is a picture Bryan took of
me sitting on a fountain in front of the Legislature. (Some people call it the
Parliament building, but there is only one Parliament for Canada and it's in the
capitol city of Ottawa. The provinces each have a legislature.)

| THE
EMPRESS HOTEL |
The Empress Hotel was
built in 1908 and has accommodated such dignitaries as King Edward VI
and Queen Elizabeth I... and of course Bryan and me!

Bryan is pointing to the
room where we stayed. We were on the 8th floor in a suite that had a
round living room inside a cupola!

This is the view of the
Victoria harbor and the legislature as seen from our suite at the
Empress Hotel. The living room was inside the cupola so it was round!!!
It was so cool. |
The Bengal Lounge
is one of the Empress Hotel's many regal venues. This is a real Bengal
tiger skin on the wall. The room is furnished in leather sofas and club
chairs surrounded by wood paneled walls.

This is Bryan and me
having afternoon tea at the Empress Hotel. I have to say it was quite
authentically British, whether or not it was intended to be. We had
scones with clotted cream and jam, cucumber sandwiches, and other
interesting cakes and sandwiches like carrot and ginger.

| AN
INTERESTING LITTLE FACTOID... |
Did
you know that although Cuban cigars are illegal in the United States,
they are perfectly legal and easily accessible in Canada? Just thought
you should know in case you like to smoke cigars or you ever find
yourself in Canada. Hee hee!
This is a picture taken
while Bryan and I enjoyed a horse-drawn carriage ride through the
streets and parks of historic Victoria, a city founded by the Hudson's
Bay Company.
